A Kiss And See You Tomorrow! To Promote Habits From Childhood
Routines are essential in people’s lives. Thus, to a greater or lesser extent, we all have a series of routines that we perform daily or practically every day. Waking up, having breakfast, going to work or school, having lunch, dinner or going to bed are some of them.
We perform these actions mechanically, as we have acquired the habit since childhood. By the way, this is exactly the point we want to address today: the acquisition of habits at this stage.
Foster habits in the infant stage
Even if children are not aware of the importance of habits, we must show them and teach them since they are young. Going to the bathroom, bedtime or washing your hands and brushing your teeth are some of them.
One of the most important habits or routines that should be acquired as soon as possible is bedtime. Thus, it is essential that children have, every day, the same time to sleep and to wake up, or at least a similar time, that is, without many variations.
Rest is essential for your long-term growth and development, but also for energy throughout the day.
On countless occasions, children are reluctant to go to bed, and this task is tiring for parents. Other times, they don’t want to sleep alone for fear of the dark or any other childish fear.
To make this task much simpler, both for parents and children, today we are going to bring you a tool that helps our children a lot when it comes to acquiring habits: children’s books.
More specifically, today we want to show you a different children’s book to foster habits, as it will be the children themselves who will interact with the story.
A kiss and see you tomorrow!
A book recommended for children from two years old with which, in a playful way, they will acquire one of the most important habits in childhood: bedtime. Written by one of the best-known children’s authors, Patricia Geis, it is part of a collection focused on children.
The protagonists of the story are animals, characters who, in addition, are very dear to the little ones in the house, more specifically, a rabbit, a pig, a bear and a cat whose respective names are Coelho, Piglet, Bear and Miu, respectively.
What sets this book apart from other children’s bedtime books is that these characters we’ve talked about are cut-outs. That way, children will be able to pick them up and interact with them on the different pages of the book.
In addition to the characters, there are also other everyday objects that are essential for daily life, such as a sponge, a comb or a toothbrush that children can also play with.
Book structure to stimulate habits
As it is a book intended for the little ones in the house, its structure is very simple. In this way, on each of the pages, children will be able to introduce the cut-out characters and objects in the different “pockets” that are included in the book. These pockets are shaped like a bed, a table drawer, and other things, depending on the habit you want to encourage.
Each of the characters has a different bedtime preference: one likes to be read a story to him, another likes to have a drink of water, and so on, with the four characters in the story. However, before these preferences, everyone performs the same actions: brushing their teeth and washing their hands.
Another thing that stands out in this book is that both sides of the characters are usable: that way, on the one hand, they’re awake, and on the other, they’re asleep, since with the story you want to foster the habit of going to the bed.
Through play and reading, as on each double page we find approximately four lines of text, children should discover all the habits that each character has before going to bed and, finally, help them with that.
A book that will be a children’s favorite
Playbooks are among children’s favorites for the interaction possibilities their pages offer. Publisher Combel has been aware of the importance of transmitting habits to children and, thus, through their favorite characters, wanted to create this fantastic collection.
When the child finishes the book, he finds a tab to keep all the characters and can start the story again the following night, without missing any details.
